Carabao Island Beach Camp

The fast, steady Wi-Fi made this peaceful beachfront place a good spot for getting remote work done. The on-site restaurant was convenient, with tasty, affordable food, and the owner and staff were warm and welcoming. The dome tent fan room was clean, comfortable, and roomier than I expected, and I slept well. It gets hot inside around midday, but that's a good time to nap on one of the beds by the shore and catch the breeze. The shared bathroom only had a cold shower. They kindly let me use another unit's toilet for a hot one, which I appreciated. The property is quiet, clean, and right in front of the beach. It's a few minutes by bike to the port on the other side of the island. Locals say this side is the main beach area, where most resorts are. A couple of small things could be better: the shared toilet could be cleaned more regularly, and a rack for wet clothes near the tents would help. Still, it's a peaceful, well-run place for a laid-back beach escape.

The camp felt like home, thanks in large part to the wonderful staff. Our accommodation was clean and comfortable, the food was good, and the internet was fast and steady. It's also within walking distance of the spot where you board the 6am boat to Caticlan, and the cathedral for cliff jumping, snorkeling, and sunset happy hour.

After Boracay, we were happy to find the relaxed feel of Carabao Beach Camp. Ms Anne, her staff, and her family were wonderful with the two adults and two kids in our group. We joined Anne's island tour, with cliff jumping, a beach BBQ, a school visit, and a tour of the small town. We met some of the friendliest locals in all of the Philippines. Highly recommend.

Worth visiting. It's one of the few good places to stay on the island, with a decent restaurant and a nice, quiet sandy beach.
