Hotel Vale Verde

It’s a lovely 2-star hotel, with friendly staff and owners. The room had a clean bed, a clean bathroom, the basic amenities we needed, and a balcony with a bistro set. They have their own parking lot, and everything around town is an easy walk away.

The location was the best. I walked to the hot springs, then down the road for a great dinner, and slept really well and long. The rooms looked just like the photos, clean and solid. Staff were welcoming, check-in and checkout were easy, and breakfast was nice. A great stay!

The staff were pleasant and always tried to help, breakfast was fair, and the location was good. But the facility was very poorly maintained. We stayed 3 nights, and the air conditioning only cooled the room. We told staff it was cold and very wet and asked them to fix it. They promised to help, but nothing changed, and they gave us just 1 blanket. The electricity went out on the first night, so we had a cold shower in the morning, though this was fixed. On the third night, an alarm in the lobby went off all night. There was no kettle in the room, and the sound isolation was so poor that a neighbor showering kept us from sleeping. One morning they served an omelet from the previous day at breakfast, but fixed it right away when we complained. It’s a 2* hostel, but the price was very high compared with everywhere else we stayed over 2 weeks in the Azores. Compared with other hotels in Furnas, though, it was reasonable.

Sandra led us around different hot spring areas on this Geothermal Water Tour （volcano hot spring experience） and shared fascinating information throughout. It was both fun and educational, and really felt like a one-of-a-kind experience. We even brewed coffee and tea with natural hot spring water. The adorable Purple Tea was especially memorable: seeing green tea turn purple when steeped in the mineral-rich water was such a fun surprise. Everything was rich, well organized, and thoughtfully put together. All of us had a great time and left smiling with lovely memories. I truly think this is a must-do in the Azores and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the islands.
