Our two-bedroom apartment was on the third floor, with an en suite and another bathroom. The kitchen was part of a lovely, large lounge with two small patios looking over a busy, beautiful square. Le Consulat used to be the Brazilian embassy, and the grand interior still has high ceilings, beautiful architraves, and lots of wood. Breakfast had a nice afternoon-tea feel, with pastries, ham, cheese, bread, yoghurt, granola, and scrambled eggs. We enjoyed it, though the service was hit and miss: sometimes the eggs arrived with the cold food and had chilled by the time we ate. I would've liked toast as another option. Staff were very helpful when we had a few apartment issues. The safe didn't work and a wardrobe door wouldn't close, but both were dealt with. The lighting is kept very dim for a calm atmosphere, which we found difficult. Maybe it's less of a problem in summer. There weren't many usable mirrors either. The one in my bedroom looked like an antiquity and suited the interior, but it was almost completely black and no use at all. A tram and bus stop is right outside, which is very handy. The square is extremely busy, so there's some late-night noise for light sleepers, though being so central makes getting around easy. One tip: ask reception for the proper address when booking an Uber, or the driver may go to the wrong place and be hard to find.

I liked the room's feel and the view across the square. Sitting inside, I felt like I was part of Lisbon. I visited in 03/2026 and enjoyed walking around the neighbourhood, though I can't say what it's like in peak summer. The tasty breakfast is limited, with no buffet. The bar and breakfast room also serve as a co-working space, which worked well while I got some work done. I would've liked a Smart TV for my own apps and a sound system. I missed having a kettle too, though there was a Nespresso machine. I didn't ask for a kettle, and you can get hot water from the bar.

We had a great view over the square in Lisboa's Chiado district, and Le Consulat made getting to and from the airport easy with pick-up and drop-off. Check-in and checkout were seamless. The room was attractive and the location puts you right in the centre of Lisboa, with beautiful buildings, good food, and shopping in whichever direction you walk. Public transport is easy to find and runs often, so a car isn't necessary. It felt like a cozy home away from home.

The staff were kind, professional, and accommodating, and the location is great. They did what they could with limited resources, which kept my rating from being even lower. Still, I can't recommend this place. It felt like whoever manages it cut costs wherever possible. We had no working internet for the entire stay. The pillows were cheap and lumpy, the sheets were half polyester and too hot, and the furniture felt cheap. The bed creaked. The armoire closet had unusable drawers and nowhere to hang a dress. There were lots of bad smells, and the soundproofing was awful, with noise coming from inside and outside the hotel. If I'd booked expecting a two- or maybe three-star hotel, it might've been fine. Calling it four-star and charging accordingly is laughable.

Our room was beautiful, with a stunning view across one of Lisbon's main squares, and the location is right in the heart of the city. The bedding and cleanliness were to a very high standard. The receptionist who welcomed us was extremely friendly and helpful. Everything was excellent, highly recommended!
