Tram 28 goes to this lovely spot, where there are nice coffee and pastry shops nearby and plenty of people relaxing with drinks or music. The view over the city, river and cruise ships is beautiful, and it's a great place for cool photos. One sad thing is that people steal the beautiful blue tiles from the walls. The authorities need to do something to stop it.

It gets packed around blue hour, but the atmosphere and views are still beautiful for photos. This isn't the side where you can watch the sun go down over the sea, so keep that in mind.

Maybe try coming at sunrise. The tiled viewpoint is beautiful, and I liked the energy of people playing music, chatting before dinner and reading. The outlook is lovely, but with so many visitors taking photos, it was hard to enjoy. I wanted pictures too, of course, but some people were taking long photo shoots and blocking the best views and seats. That felt inconsiderate, though I suppose it's to be expected at such a beautiful tourist spot.

Food and tourist souvenirs are easy to find here, from shops and stalls to street vendors, even on a wet day in January. The views are spectacular, and another welcome surprise was a toilet just down the stairs from the piazza. It has an attendant and is clean and well looked after. You do have to pay, but 50 cents isn't much for the facilities. This is probably the best place to get off the iconic 28 tram for a look at the city and harbour.

We went on a rainy evening, and the viewpoint felt magical. The mosaic work has so much of Lisbon's spirit, and we loved it. You get amazing views of Ensenada do Tejo and the Aldama neighborhood. A must-see, I bet it's pretty in the morning too.
