New Lisbon Concept Hostel

I had a good stay and met some nice people. The showers had good pressure and temperature, breakfast was perfectly acceptable, and the service was decent. Staff also tried their best to offer recommendations.

I’ve stayed at NLC Hostel several times, including 15 nights in 2019 and another 5-night visit later that year. Each time it was quiet, clean, and comfortable, and I’d happily stay again. The kitchen is well equipped, the place is very clean, and the young staff are pleasant, efficient, and helpful. For the price, it’s very reasonable. You can book online and pay in full when you arrive and check in, by credit or debit card. It’s on the third floor of a prewar luxury building on Avenidada Liberdade, with designer clothing and jewelry shops just a minute or two away in either direction. The Avenida Lisboa Metro stop is a few hundred feet away, making trips to and from the Lisboa airport easy. To get in, press the buzzer by the front door. The door is heavy and a bit hard to push, though the old elevator works. Breakfast is included, with orange drink, bread, butter, confiture, cheese, ham, and coffee or tea. There are no eggs. The hostel sits right on Avenida da Liberdade, often called the Fifth Avenue of Lisbon.

The room stayed unbearably hot through the night, and there were hardly any fans. Still, the location was good, the desk was open around the clock, and the other facilities were good. Friendly staff and free breakfast were nice bonuses.

I came back two years after my first visit and stayed on 16/5/19. The place was clean and comfortable, but the pillow smelled. There were no covers on the bunks to block light from other people, either. From 4am, the guy setting up the breakfast tables kept waking me with noise, and it went on until 6am.
