Panoramic View Saldanha Guesthouse

The only good part was the view. My boyfriend and I booked bunk beds with an ensuite, expecting somewhere clean and comfortable, but the bathroom was dirty when we arrived. There was hair in the drain and on the floor, the mirror was covered in toothpaste, and the toilet was dirty and broken. The beds had a tiny, thin sheet that barely covered the mattresses. During our nine nights, the sheets and towels were never changed and the room was never cleaned. The woman in charge only communicated over WhatsApp and didn’t answer our messages. There was no one responsible on site to report the problems to, and no reception. A man the guesthouse woman called came to check us in and charged 10€ for checking in after 6pm. We never saw him again. If you can, don’t book this place.

DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!!!! We found bedbugs in the bed. I knew I wasn’t paying for somewhere fancy, but this was just awful. The shared bathroom serves five other rooms, so it was usually occupied. It was dirty, and the bathtub was full of hair and looked horrible. The walls were so thin I could hear the pillow moving against the wall in the next room. The doors were loud and hard to open and close, the furniture looked really old, and our room didn’t have what had been promised. I’d love to get my money back.

The terrace balcony was lovely, with great views across the city toward the sea. For what I needed, the place worked well, and although the mattress felt like it was almost all springs, I still slept fine. The rooms are basic, with a bed, desk, and wardrobe. Check-in was a little disorganized because there’s no reception. Other guests completely ignored the 00:00-07:00 quiet hours, and with nobody there to enforce them, I was stuck with the noise. The doors are naturally loud, so every opening and closing carries through the whole house.

The view is the one nice thing. The location is alright, with bus and metro nearby, though that’s hardly unusual in Lisbon. There are also good breakfast spots around, but Lisbon has great food everywhere. The place is dirty and extremely dusty. After a few days it got hard to breathe. We had the same four towels for two weeks, no fresh sheets, and even had to buy our own toilet paper. It’s on the eighth floor of an apartment complex. Believe the average two-star reviews and don’t book unless you have no other choice.
