Pensao Residencial Camoes

My double room had its own bathroom, which was a little small, but the price was affordable for a place right in the centre of Bairro Alto. The cleaner was very nice and did the room every day, and most of the receptionists were friendly too. After midnight you have to ring the bell to get in, which was fine. The last night, though, a receptionist reminded me twice about checkout the next day because I came back late after a night out. That’s why I’m giving it four stars.

The owners are nice, and the rooms were clean, but there’s barely any space to move around because they’re so tiny. The building is old and mouldy, and things are liable to break.

The walk from Restauradores metro, as Google Maps suggests, is very steep uphill. Chiado might be a better route. The hotel sits among Bairro Alto’s narrow streets, with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. My room was small and basic, but reasonably clean. Fine for a night or two if you’re trying to keep costs down.

A good option if you just need basic accommodation in a good location. The room was tiny and had very little storage, but otherwise things were fine. Bathrooms were clean, and the rooms were cleaned daily. Service was very good.
