My room, 307, was incredibly quiet, and I slept like one of the Anjos angels, even during the current youth festival. The staff were delightful, and the bathroom was spotlessly clean. This wasn't my first visit. The place is past its prime, of course, but they do a good job looking after it.

The metro entrance is right there, so you can get to pretty much any part of the city from the nearby station. The location is great, and the staff and room service were great too. It's cheap, which works well on a budget or when, like us, you're booking a week before the trip.

The place worked for me since I only needed a bed and a toilet. The 24-hour reception was always staffed, and there was a kitchen for preparing small things, though it felt pretty ratchet. The toilets felt ratchet too, but were surprisingly clean, perhaps because of the guests' civil behavior, though I could be wrong. The facilities were always available. Some toilet doors and my room door didn't close properly, so someone outside could have glimpsed inside, though not the whole room. The old window didn't close all the way at the top. That didn't bother me in summer, but might be an issue. I was on the third floor; people on lower floors might hear the noisy tram. My room had just the beds, a shoe rack, and a tiny shelf, with no desk, chair, or clothes hangers.

The price was so reasonable that I have to give my stay 5 stars. My room was comfortable and had a balcony. The staff spoke great English and helped with my suitcases. There was also a shared kitchen with a fridge and microwave, which came in handy. I'll definitely stay here again.
