Sweet Lisbon House Alfama

The host was so friendly and attentive, always there when I had a question or wanted a recommendation. The apartment was spotless, stylish, and had everything I needed, plus a very comfortable bed and a lovely view over the neighborhood. Its location right in the heart of Lisbon made it easy to get to major sights, restaurants, and public transport. I had an amazing stay and it really felt like home. I can’t wait to come back!

The party upstairs on our first night kept people running and dancing, with the doorbell buzzing until 1 a.m. We barely slept. The listing says quiet hours are 11 p.m. to 8 a.m., but they weren’t respected. Our ground-floor windows opened straight onto the street, so people passing by could see into the room, and we could clearly hear their conversations. Opening the windows meant having no privacy. The apartment was outdated and had a lot of problems. The water heater was the main one: even set at 74°F, the water turned freezing cold, around 22°F, after 5-6 minutes, then took 45-60 minutes to heat again. With only two nights there, all four of us couldn’t shower, and the delays affected our plans. When we complained, the property manager, Luis, was indifferent and denied the issue. The floorboards were cracked and creaky, making the upstairs noise even louder. The shower was tiny, had only a curtain instead of a proper door, and let water spill onto the floor. The listing didn’t mention the steep hill to reach the apartment. Cars couldn’t drive up, which was especially difficult for me because I have asthma. We booked Alfama Apartments through Booking.com. The manager’s indifference, lack of privacy, and all the faults made our stay extremely unpleasant. It wasn’t as advertised, and we do not recommend it. For the price, it’s a rip-off.

The friendly service and comfortable apartment made my time in Lisbon really enjoyable. The neighborhood is lovely, close to tourist spots, the Sé cathedral, local restaurants, and some amazing viewpoints.

I stayed here with my family, and the apartment was well equipped and in a good location. When we accidentally lost power, the owner responded right away and politely talked us through what to do. Their WhatsApp replies were very fast too. My daughter became unwell, and the owner quickly changed the sheets and comforter. I’d choose this apartment again next time. Thank you.
