Tandem Palacio Alfama Suites

The layout is a maze, with several elevators and stairs before you reach the unit, but it also made the place feel almost magical, a little haunted. The penthouse itself is beautiful, with a huge living room and kitchen, views of the Pantheon and harbor from both sides, and modern millwork in the kitchen and bathrooms.

The pool wasn't usable during our Christmas stay, and the water looked almost green. Reception was open only a few hours each day, and the emergency number didn't always get answered. The apartment itself was very clean, dusted and vacuumed. Toilet paper, dishwashing liquid, paper towels, and kitchen towels were supplied in new single-use packs. The bed sheets were acceptable, though they could have been cleaner and better quality.

We'd gladly stay again. Tandem Palacio Alfama Apartments is in charming Alfama, with restaurants, fado, and lovely viewpoints close by. The apartments are stylish, cozy, and clean, and the staff were friendly and attentive.

There's plenty of space and it was comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen and a pool that's a nice extra on hot days. The location is ideal for getting around the city. Some pots didn't work properly on the stove, though, and there were several maintenance problems: a broken apartment door, a bathroom door that only stayed shut when locked, and a broken kitchen bin. The gym needs attention too, since the rowing machine wasn't working properly. For the prices they're charging, the place needs more upkeep and attention to detail.
