Hotel Vincci Liberdade

We had a pleasant stay, and the building is stylish and clearly well cared for. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the cookies at reception were a treat. Our room was comfortable, with a nice small balcony, though there wasn’t much room for luggage. It also got too warm, and the air conditioning wasn’t working properly. The bathroom looked nice and had good quality amenities, but the shower doors didn’t close right and left the floor soaked. The toilet bidet spray wasn’t working either. Breakfast came in a stylish room, with good quality food, friendly service, and omelettes and coffee you could order. I would have liked more choice, especially pastries. We were asked during booking whether we’d stayed before and said no, but there wasn’t any welcome gesture when we arrived. The location is good, too.

The pool area was lovely, housekeeping did a very good job every day, and the beds and pillows were especially comfortable if you like them on the firm side. The bathroom was spacious, though the room itself was small and had only a tiny barred window. We’d asked for separate beds, but were first given one bed and then told twin beds hadn’t been guaranteed. They ended up pushed together and couldn’t really be separated. The listing on Booking.com said there’d be tea-making facilities, but there was no kettle or tea. We had to order tea from the restaurant for €10 a cup. It wasn’t about the price, it was the inaccurate information before booking. Construction nearby was noisy, and service could be slow when the hotel was busy. Breakfast was generally tasty, though the scrambled eggs tasted powdered. It was also disappointing to be charged €3 in the restaurant for the same bread served at breakfast.

Kevin at reception was really helpful when the bath in our first room wouldn’t drain, and got us moved to another room. That bathroom sometimes smelled because of ventilation issues, which we mentioned at checkout. The hotel itself is clean and sleek, and the staff are good. The parking garage is tight, though that seems common in the area. After checkout, we were oddly told to stop eating our croissants in reception because we’d brought them from outside, even though breakfast had already ended.

The bed was unbelievably comfortable, like sleeping on a cloud. The rooms were nice, and the location was peaceful, about 10 minutes from the center. Breakfast was A M A Z I N G. My only gripe was the bathroom door, which was made of non-transparent glass. I’m old-fashioned and would’ve preferred a proper door. Still, 5/5.
