Zuni Apartment

For us, the place was clean and comfortable enough for a few days as a couple, with friends, or on your own. It isn’t renovated, and there’s no air conditioning, but we left the windows open. It also may not suit families. I’d usually rate somewhere like this four stars, but some of the earlier one-star comments felt unfair. The host was kind and helpful. After checkout she let us leave our bags in the shared area so we didn’t have to carry them around until our flight. She changed our towels, and the shared spaces were cleaned regularly. There are five rooms, two bathrooms and one kitchen. It was never unpleasant to use the common areas. The kitchen has what you need to cook and clean up, including a fridge, freezer, cutlery, plates, pans, knives, washing-up liquid and a sponge. There’s also a kettle and a capsule coffee machine with capsules. Hair dryers are in the bathrooms, and toilet paper was always replenished. The water heater did stop once, as others have mentioned, but unplugging and reconnecting it got it working again. The price is lower than at most places. It’s not right in the centre, though most sights are a 30-40 minute walk away, which suited us because we like exploring on foot. There are shops nearby for fresh fruit and vegetables, including a MyAuchan three minutes away, and restaurants about ten minutes away. Two metro stops are close: Alameda links to the airport in 12 minutes, and the green line is even nearer and goes to Cais do Sodré, right in the city centre.

The house is surprisingly spacious and super clean. The woman who welcomed us was really nice, and there are small supermarkets nearby. There’s also a really good bakery just downstairs. For the price and quality, it’s a good choice.

For the whole week I was there, I couldn’t get a proper shower because the water was always cold. I’ll remember Lisbon for having dirty hair. 😑

The mattress was good, and the bedsheets and towels were clean. Both bathrooms were new and clean too. The downside was the noisy hot water boiler.
