We had such a lovely weekend at this genuine Alentejo farm, run by a Portuguese family for many years. The views are wonderful wherever you look, with fresh air and sunshine all around. It’s still a working farm, so we could visit the fields with goats, newborn kids since it was birthing season, sheep, and donkeys. There’s everything you need, including a pool, heating and AC, and a full breakfast. I’d happily come back again and again! 🙌🏡

Manuela and all her staff made us feel welcome with their warmth and sincerity. We loved the farm walks, and breakfast was excellent too. The rooms and bathrooms were spotless, and the sheets, bedding, and pillows felt first class. It’s wonderfully quiet and secluded, while still close to everything in the Alentejo.

Manuela made our stay feel like home, helping with whatever we needed, from breakfast to tips on where to go. She’s such a warm person, and her smiles cost nothing. She’s also a great cook, so remember to ask ahead if you’d like at least one dinner there. The pool was clean and well looked after, and sits above the hill, with lovely postcard-like afternoons. The views from every angle are breathtaking, and the place itself is wonderful. We spent three days at Herdade Vale de Cabras, a well-deserved gift after the year and a half we’d all been through. There are lots of animals if you love them, and some are especially affectionate and entertaining.

You’re surrounded by nature here, yet close to the main towns in the Alentejo, so the location worked perfectly for us. Everything was clean and cared for, and the starry sky was wonderful to see. Manuela is so kind, and the breakfast was one of the best I’ve ever had. My three days at Herdade Vale de Cabras were unforgettable.

Such a lovely, quiet little B&B, tucked away in a remote spot. Clean, quaint, and welcoming, with fantastic hosts. I really didn’t want to leave.
