We couldn't stay here after finding that the room didn't match the listing. It wasn't at the address or in the building shown on Booking.com, looked nothing like the photos, and didn't have the view we had paid for. We chose Apartamentos Portodouro – Santa Catarina based on its central location, family-friendly promise, and strong reviews, so this was a real letdown. When we raised the problem, the employee there was dismissive and rude, made no effort to fix it, and suggested we leave because “others want the room.” The gap between what was listed and what we found, along with that response, made staying impossible. Be aware that the listing may not show what you'll actually get.

The building and apartment feel new, are well maintained, and were clean. The apartment is on the small side, but there was plenty of room for a few days or even a week in Porto. The bed was comfortable, though the pillows weren't great. It's near the top of a hill on a central street, with shops and places to eat just a block or two away. Expect quite a bit of walking downhill to the old part of town and the riverfront. Communication and welcome were very professional. Highly recommend!

They canceled my booking less than two weeks before I was due to arrive, even though I’d booked two months ahead. They said my card had been refused, which I don’t believe: I was using the same card for other expenses and it worked. When I called, they didn’t seem to care and basically told me that was my problem. I checked the listing again and saw the price had gone up by 50%. It looks to me like they canceled so they could rent the place again for more money. This kind of practice is unacceptable and needs to stop!

A lovely spot for a couple's weekend, whether you're heading out for a drink or something to eat. You can still feel the Portuguese atmosphere here, so just enjoy yourself!
