Hotel Helin Aeroport

Dark, gloomy, isolated, and creepy. I wouldn’t be surprised if the hotel were haunted. There’s no hot water in the shower, and the water gets shut off overnight until morning. The mini fridge in the room doesn’t work either. A perfect pick if you’re after a "Soviet, cold war" experience.

The room was quite spacious, and the lobby looked nice, but the shower didn’t work properly, there was no hot water, and the toilet barely flushed. The cleaning needs work too. For example, there was hair in the bed from previous guests. Fix the water and cleanliness issues and this place could be good, but until then I can’t recommend it. There were signs for fire extinguishers everywhere, but I couldn’t find a single one. Maybe I was just a clueless tourist who didn’t know where to look, or maybe they really don’t have them.

The restaurant staff were friendly, but that was the bright spot. The hotel had no warm water, so shower somewhere else before checking in. I also wouldn’t recommend it if you need rest, since the walls are so thin that loud noises from the women cleaning the room carry through. The fridge or minibar wasn’t working either, so there’s no point trying to use it.

The room was unbearably hot, and the air conditioning couldn’t cool it down. The shower cubicle was awkward too, if I turned around to wash my back, my butt would turn off the water. The fridge was warmer than the room, maybe because the room key card switched everything off. Definitely not a three-star hotel.
