There’s no physical key here. You get a code for the entrance and your room, and when it’s time to leave you can just go without visiting reception. The hotel is more or less autonomous, and the whole process was smooth. My room was clean, the beds were super comfortable, and each had three sets of pillows so I could pick what suited me. Housekeeping was thorough, and there was plenty to choose from at breakfast. I’d highly recommend it to anyone after an easy stay.

Some reviews had us worried, so I wanted to clear up a few things for other travelers. This isn’t an unmanned hotel. There’s no reception, but there is definitely a very good housekeeping team, and managing the keypad is very easy. The rooms were lovely and warm, and well sized. The email said we could only get in at 3, but we reached ostersund around 1. Housekeeping was still working, but after checking that we had a room for the day, they let us leave our luggage in it. The entrance is clearly marked on the main Street, not through the restaurant, though there’s a restaurant entrance too. Breakfast was excellent, and the staff were very friendly. Don’t let the strange reviews put you off.

After you book, they email you a code for the front door and your room. There’s no check-in process or much interaction with staff, but it worked well. The room was excellent, efficient, cozy, and pleasant. The breakfast buffet was spectacular, and the hotel was great value.

It rained into our room, and the walls are so thin that you can hear everything happening next door. The location was good, though, and we liked checking in with our phones.
