Scandic Klara

Breakfast was phenomenal, with an extraordinary range of fresh, tasty food, and the hotel was very quiet. We were on the 7th, top floor, overlooking the breakfast courtyard. The location was excellent for shopping, just two minutes from the main retail area, and the central train station was a 10-minute walk away. Many landmarks and museums were within 20-30 minutes. The rooms are small and basic, but very comfortable. The onsite sauna is on the small side, and breakfast gets very busy at peak times, so plan around that. I’d have liked some decaf tea options and extra milk in the room, so I didn’t have to keep asking reception. The air conditioning tended to make the room very dry, and we couldn’t turn it off. Our TV had no signal and didn’t seem to get repaired during our three-night stay. Even so, I wouldn’t hesitate to return and would thoroughly recommend it as a place to stay in Central Stockholm.

The breakfast was the highlight for us: loads of choice, including great vegetarian options, fresh ginger shots, lovely white bread and seriously good butter. We’ve stayed in plenty of hotels around the world, and this one really stood out. The staff were friendly at both reception and the restaurant. Rooms are on the small side, with smaller beds, but they were comfortable and did the job. We picked Scandic Klara for three nights because it’s right in central Stockholm, and that made getting around easy. We were also there for a Lady Gaga concert, with the hotel close to AVICII arena, the metro and the central station. And, as a fun extra, my name is Klara. Turns out it was a great choice. We had a lovely stay and would recommend it. Thank you again!!!!

The vegan breakfast setup was great. Allergens are marked, and there’s a separate corner with vegan and gluten-free food, a fridge, more than five kinds of non-dairy milk, plus vegan cheese and spread. Loved it. The room was cozy, with a big bathroom, and it was totally quiet. It’s easy to get anywhere from here.

The room was clean and nice when we arrived, and the bathroom, though tiny, was modern and very clean. A hairdryer was provided, and you can ask for extra towels, but there’s no towel warmer. The room fridge is almost useless, with no space even for a small can or bottle, and there were only two little coffee sachets. Breakfast was okay, with good coffee including espresso, cappuccino and latte, and there are vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free choices. The selection felt limited, though: not many healthy items, hardly any fresh fruit beyond melon, no berries, juices or smoothies, and not enough fresh vegetables. The jam had milk products mixed in, apparently because of other guests. Staff wore gloves while serving food but handled different items around the buffet, so cross-contamination seems very likely for anyone with allergies. There were also quite a few dirty plates and some cutlery. The location worked perfectly for a Stockholm city break, and the room was good for the price. It wasn’t too noisy, though we could hear the elevator at night. Our window faced the breakfast buffet, which meant no street noise. The beds and sheets were clean, but the beds weren’t great. After two nights we had some bad muscle aches, and better beds might have convinced us to stay another night or two.
