Uppsala Hotel Apartments

I wouldn't recommend Uppsala Hotel Apartments because of how management handled our request. We had booked four rooms for three nights and another two rooms for two nights through Booking.com, both reservations non-refundable. Uppsala had been announced as the Ice Sailing World Championships location only about 48 hours before arrival, so we booked when the hotel was nearly full and took the last rooms. About 24 hours before we were due to arrive, the competition moved to the Norrköping area. I notified the hotel right away and asked if they could offer a refund, voucher, or partial refund given the late change. Reception politely directed me to make a request through Booking.com, which I did. I then called again and asked to speak with the manager for the first time. I couldn't reach the manager, who apparently only came in for an hour on Friday. Reception said they would leave a note asking for a callback, but I never got one, despite four or five further attempts. Booking.com eventually notified me that the request had been denied under the policy. I understand the policy. Still, the hotel was already full over a holiday weekend, and we had the last rooms, so it seemed likely they could have rebooked them. Since we'd booked at the last minute and tried to cancel almost immediately, I don't think we'd realistically have caused much impact by holding the rooms. It's disappointing that nobody would discuss other options, and extremely rude that the manager didn't return our calls or agree to speak with us. People like this shouldn't work in hospitality.
