The location is fantastic, and the staff were very nice. Still, I slept terribly and can’t recommend the place. It seems locals working unusual hours stay here, which is completely fair, and I’m fine sharing a dorm, but there’s hardly any hostel atmosphere or common space. There’s one microwave for cooking and, I think, just one toilet and shower for 16 people. From 10 at night until 8, older men snored almost constantly. It was heavy breathing that sounded like it needed a doctor, and I haven’t slept that badly in ages. Two guys in my room also ignored the need for quiet after about 10, then got up at 5 for work, rustling bags and making noise. The cheap, creaky bunks make it easy to be loud. I can see why it’s the cheapest place you find. In Singapore’s heat, coming back to rest midday would have been nice, but that option felt cursed for us.

The host is nice and does her best to keep things clean and in order, but I couldn’t sleep or rest here. I was put in a room full of older men who snored loudly all night, and I didn’t feel comfortable. There’s no common room, and two rooms share just one shower and toilet. The beds are thin and hard. I only met one tourist. Most of the others were locals or travelers who didn’t speak English, so it was hard to interact. It’s definitely not a typical hostel. Please have a women’s room and set an age limit.

Good value for the price. The location is central, and both the rooms and washroom were clean.

The best part is how clean they keep the place, and it’s right in the center of Chinatown. But the bunk bed wobbled, there’s no communal area, and towels cost 3 SGD as of May 2025. There’s only one toilet for 14 people. Someone peed on the bed below mine, and the whole room smelled. I reported it and they sanitized the place afterward. My drinks were also stolen from the fridge, but the hotel paid me back.

The dorm had pretty much everything I needed: a reading light, electricity, a storage board and curtains. It was clean, and the shower was one of the best I’ve seen in a hostel in Malaysia. Chinatown’s right outside, and Sarah was such a sweetheart, really helpful during my two-night stay. I’d recommend the hostel. Thanks, Sarah! :) -Alex
