One of the nicest touches is the cozy café, with dishes made using fresh Hydroponics-grown vegetables. The hotel also has a clear social mission: it promotes inclusion by employing people with special needs, and the automated e-mart is convenient. It's spacious, clean and reasonably priced for an NGO-run hotel. Orchard Road is a short distance away, with easy transport links and an MRT station within walking distance. A pleasant, practical place to stay with the essentials covered.

The pool is nice, but our room was surprisingly dirty. The free WiFi was so poor that we had to buy a separate data plan through the Saily app. Staff were a mixed bag: some were really kind and helpful, while others seemed uninterested in helping with anything. Just okay.

My son and his mum have been staying here, and I joined my son now and then. Andrew and Karen at the front desk were friendly and helpful. The rest of the management team, who stayed in their offices, were the most hostile and unpleasant employees there. They were unprofessional. A woman confronted me about bringing outside food onto the hotel premises without even greeting me. She walked straight over, chastised me and argued forcefully. She complained to Karen about me, then shouted outside the lobby so I could hear how displeased she was. After that, the other managers were told I was there, and they came out of their offices one by one just to antagonize me. It felt very personal, insincere and insulting. I left, and my son will never stay at YMCA Stevens again. The management was shamelessly unprofessional and hostile. Father and son definitely do not recommend this place.

The room and its amenities were fine, but the WiFi was unbelievably bad. I couldn't get work done or join meetings in my room. I couldn't even load Google Drive to open my documents. I used 10GB of mobile data in four days by hotspotting, and had to search around Singapore for places where I could work and take calls. There's no excuse for a hotel to have WiFi this poor. I won't book here again.
