The toilets weren’t always clean, even though staff told me they cleaned them several times a day, and it still left a bad impression. There also isn’t much of a social area to meet other travelers, though I understand space is limited. If walking isn’t your thing, keep in mind the nearest MRT is about a 5-10 minute walk away. That said, I had a pretty pleasant stay. The bed was very comfortable, 5/5, and putting on the linen myself at check-in actually reassured me that it was clean. Breakfast is free and you can help yourself to cereal, toast, and a few spreads. The WiFi had decent speed. The space is a little cramped, but I was lucky to get a room with a window, which made my stay better than it might have been otherwise. Thanks for the hospitality!

The staff were friendly and gave us directions and ideas for sightseeing. We stayed four nights in a private room, and the bed was really comfortable. Coming back to a nicely air-conditioned room after a long day in the heat was just what we needed. Breakfast was simple, cereal, toast, spreads, tea, and coffee, but it made for an easy start. The MRT is a short walk away, so getting around the city was easy.

The room had no window and smelled bad. The air conditioning was much too cold, and there wasn’t much you could do to adjust it. The lockers were tiny and didn’t feel secure enough. Toilets and showers could use a better clean. Breakfast was basic but okay, with toast, jam, peanut butter, and sugary cereal. I wouldn’t recommend it.

I booked two nights, then moved to another hostel for my last night. There was just one toilet and one shower for the whole floor, which had five rooms with several beds in each. There weren’t any common spaces to relax or meet people. Breakfast was only sliced sandwich bread with butter and jam, served in a patio-like corridor facing a wall. It felt really depressing eating there. The WiFi barely worked. To reconnect, I had to go back to reception, and moving away from there meant losing the connection.

There are lots of mini markets nearby, and it’s close to Mustafa and a busy dim sum place whose name I’ve forgotten. The top bunk was pretty nice, and there were six people in the room. The locker was a decent size, but bring your own padlock. Hot and cold showers, soap, shampoo, cereal, tap water, and milk were free. Laundry cost extra, and you couldn’t use their washing machine yourself. My scores, out of 10: location 7, place 6.5, price 8.5, hospitality 7.5. It’s a bit of a walk to Farrer Park MRT station.
