NNV Hostel

I stayed for two nights and had no real complaints. The room was fine, with space for six though there were only two of us, and the toilet facilities were OK. The receptionists were friendly and helpful. There are stairs, and you have to pay for coffee, even the coffee at breakfast, but those were minor things for me.

The room smelled horrible, and climbing four floors by stairs with no lift was really unpleasant after a long day walking around the city. The hot shower also stopped working sometimes. Worst of all, there was a peephole in the shower room where someone could look in, and I don't know why it hadn't been fixed. Some guests left their belongings in the corridor, making it hard to get through. The hotel should remind guests to respect one another.

The hostel was cheap and near the MRT, but the condition was awful. Check-in was quick and easy, though water was dripping from the lobby ceiling. There are no lifts, so anyone on the fourth floor has to carry their bags up the stairs. Opening our room door, we were hit by such a strong musty smell that I nearly threw up. We left the door open for a while to air it out and thought it might be bed bugs or mold, so we sprayed ourselves and the beds with bug repellent. We were lucky not to get bitten. The air conditioning worked, but didn't help with the smell. The showers were extremely dirty, and while showering I had to keep using the shower head to clear the drain. There were also tiny peepholes, badly covered with marker. After staying here, our clothes smelled musty like the room, so be sure to wash them twice.

The room was OK and the location was handy, near a bus stop and train station, but the mattresses were extremely hard and uncomfortable. The room also smelled bad every time we came back. Check-in was quick and easy, and the man at the desk was absolutely lovely, helpful and kind.
