ZEN Rooms Oasis

For a cheap hotel, it was nice enough. I booked the Single Capsule in 4-Bed Female Window Room, and it was an okay stay. The locker and bathroom were inside, which was handy, and there was hot water. The bed felt kind of stiff, so a padded mat might help, but I didn’t bring one and still slept fine. There was Wi-Fi, a charging port in my capsule, and a kettle for heating water. A good option if you’re traveling and trying to save money.

The only real plus is that it’s fairly close to buses and the MRT. The rest of the stay was poor. The room was only 3/10 for cleanliness. The wardrobe had no door, the kettle still had water left by the previous guest, and the hand soap, shampoo, and body wash hadn’t been refilled. The blanket was extremely thin, the air-conditioning was very noisy but also very cold, and the curtain had a hole. The TV didn’t work either. The receptionist, who spoke Chinese, was very rude and threw our passports. There were no basic manners, and their English was very poor. Check-in was at 2pm, but the room still wasn’t ready when we arrived at 2.30pm. Check-out at 10AM is earlier than usual. The soundproofing was horrible: I heard people talking all night and, at 9am, someone packing a parcel with tape. I took a video. Also, the toilet hand basin is the kitchen type 😅🤣🤣

The room condition was terrible. The reception desk asked for a SGD50 deposit at check-in, but that wasn’t mentioned in any of the reservation information. The TV didn’t work, and staff seemed to take that for granted. Even when I set the AC lower, it reset itself to 27'C after five minutes. They missed housekeeping one day, despite the receptionist saying it was done daily. There’s no hair dryer. If you have heavy luggage, hope you aren’t assigned to floor 5, since the lift only goes to floor 4. The woman at reception wasn’t friendly and often seemed to sleep on the sofa in the early morning, or possibly at midnight. I won’t come back.

Management, please act on the complaints about the receptionist with the lazy eyes being rude. That behavior ruined our stay. We knew it was a cheap hotel, but this was the worst reception we’ve experienced. She was rude, slept while on duty, and seemed annoyed when we disturbed her sleep to check out early in the morning. Her English was very poor, and she had no manners. It made both the start and end of the stay terrible. She shouldn’t be working in hospitality, especially in Singapore, where many foreigners want a comfortable short stay during transit. Not again!
