Getting from the Sky Train to several bus routes is easy, with the connections right at the exit. Made the last part of the commute a breeze.

The elevated tracks were a nice surprise, with a breeze and none of the heavy exhaust from the traffic below. Everything felt immaculate, with no trash, loitering, or pickpocket threat. If you're used to the grimy, unsafe subways in New York or Philadelphia, this is the complete opposite. I'll admit I'm a Western snob about public transport. I usually call a Grab and tried to talk myself out of taking the train, but we wanted to step out of our routine and actually experience the city. The whole process turned out to be painless. Ticket machines have clear instructions in English: choose a trip from Point A to Point B, see the fare calculated, insert cash, and get your ticket. Thai locals and transit staff were respectful and welcoming, and the system felt clear, safe, and efficient. If there's a station nearby, I'd recommend skipping the car service and using the trains to explore. I'll definitely ride again.

There's plenty to eat and browse downstairs at Ratchathewi BTS Station, with restaurants, cafes, convenience stores, and small local shops for food, drinks, and everyday needs. It works as a handy spot for a meal or short break as well as a transport stop, and the shops make the area feel lively. The station is clean and orderly. Walkways, stairs, and escalators were tidy and free of visible trash, and the platform waiting area was organized and well ventilated, so it didn't feel uncomfortable or crowded even at rush hour. The ticket machines and gates were clean too, and staff were polite and helpful.

For a downtown station, it seems short on amenities that make it comfortable for people. It's connected to Asia Hotel, but there are so many stairs. It really needs an upgrade.
