OYO 895 The Onion Hostel

Right in the Flower Market and close to the main landmarks, this little riverside hostel is cosy and friendly. The staff are welcoming, the design is nice, and it draws a young crowd. The AC and beds are new, and there’s laundry on site. The price is excellent, and breakfast is simple but nice. The shared area is small, and the showers are a bit awkward. You can get to the BTS by boat from a nearby pier, or take the bus.

We spent two nights here. The hostel is well placed for walking to Wat Pho, Khaosan Road and other spots, and the “hop-on-hop-off ferry” pier is right next door. Breakfast comes with the stay. The people were very kind, and the rooms, toilets and showers were clean. My one small gripe is that I found the pillows a bit hard.

If you want to visit Wat Pho temple, this hostel is in a perfect spot. It’s also no more than a 10-minute walk from the way po & chetawan massage school, which makes it handy if you’re taking one of their courses. The rooms are tidy, a good size and have aircon. There’s free breakfast every morning, plus street food and a 7-11 just seconds from the door. Staff are friendly and really helpful, and great to chat with when they aren’t too busy. Great hostel!

The rooms were spacious and nice, with air conditioning, and the showers had warm water and really good pressure. The staff were friendly too. There’s a 7 eleven nearby where you can get pretty much EVERYTHING. Best hostel I stayed at in Asia. I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Bangkok on a budget.
