Sala Arun

This is such a sad way to start my New Year. At about two hours before check-in yesterday, 3 Jan 26, I got a call saying my booking was cancelled because of overbooking. That's it, the staff said. I paid the full amount on Oct.31,2025, and no one checked anything until 3 Jan 26. This is an unfair system that exploits customers. The hotel needs to take serious action so this doesn't happen to anyone else. Something feels strange about it.

The view is stunning, and the staff are very friendly. It's in a nice part of town with lots to see and do. The rooms are a bit old and could use some care and maintenance, but that view is wonderful.

It was the view from our room that made the whole stay worth it. My husband and I also really enjoyed eating on the restaurant balcony, especially the complimentary breakfast. The room and amenities were amazing, and Sala Arun is perfect for an intimate, romantic stay with an unbeatable view. Trust me, you won't be disappointed if you stay here. Thank you to the lovely staff of the Sala Arun!

The riverside rooms have full-length windows looking across the river to the temple, and the view is truly awesome. The rooftop bar opens to the public at 5 pm and has a similar outlook. Water is provided daily for drinking and brushing your teeth, along with homemade cool tea delivered to the room in the afternoon. There's no elevator, so expect to carry your luggage up a couple of flights of stairs. The breakfast is fantastic: you can choose Western or Thai, and they also bring fresh fruit, assorted breads, jam, and muesli to enjoy outside by the river. It's a boutique hotel right on the river, across the road from Wat Arun. The room is basic but nice, with a large shower, a bed, and minibar items. There are a few massage places nearby, as well as restaurants, juice bars, and cafés. It's a great spot for exploring Wat Arun, and it's an easy walk to the pier for a boat or to the metro station. I'd recommend it if you want somewhere quieter than central Bangkok but still want good food and easy access to other areas. The rooms can be a bit noisy because the walls are thin and music carries from the restaurant or bar, though it didn't seem to go on very late.
