The area is busy and has lots of restaurants nearby, and Nana plaza is only 300m away. The room on the 5th floor had an okay view. It was decent and had a kitchenette, but rooms are non-smoking, including the balcony. There’s no food room service, so you have to go downstairs. The pool was closed for maintenance, and we weren’t told beforehand. Check on this before booking if it matters to you. There’s also a gym and sauna. Otherwise, I don’t really have any complaints.

What stood out most was how kind the reception staff were, along with the manager, who handled guest issues professionally. Bowling and the rest of the team made me feel like part of their family. The hotel has restaurants, shops, a pharmacy, an ATM, and even a barber inside the building. The rooms were comfortable, and the bed was extremely nice. The location is excellent and close to everything. I didn’t try breakfast, but enjoyed every other part of my stay at The Rich Hotel. I’m glad I chose it this time and will definitely visit again. I won’t risk choosing another hotel in Bangkok.

Our room was on the 8th floor and looked straight at a wall in the same building, despite the preferences we’d made when booking. It felt like the worst room they could have given us. The pool was also closed, which was a huge letdown since it was one of the main reasons we chose the hotel. Agoda did mention the closure, but at the very bottom of the page beneath dozens of room options. Since the pool is the main photo used to advertise the hotel everywhere, that felt intentionally misleading. During our stay, airspace in the Middle East suddenly closed and many flights were cancelled, leaving us unable to fly home. When I asked reception to extend our stay, they checked with the manager and said it was impossible because our visa stamps had expired. But the Thai government had officially extended visas and cancelled penalties because of the situation. Other hotels understood that and had no problem accommodating people. We were left to urgently find somewhere else during an already stressful time. The hotel left us with a very negative impression. It was a very bad experience, and I’d strongly suggest choosing literally any other place. The hotel calls itself “Rich”, but the service and attitude felt closer to “Poor”. I definitely wouldn’t recommend staying here.

After leaving the hotel, I found out they’d charged me for the incorrect booking as a “no-show”. I’d made the mistake in the Agoda app while still at the property, on March 15 as I was checking out, and told reception straight away. They instructed me to submit a cancellation request through Agoda and said they’d approve it immediately without penalty so I could rebook the right date. I followed their instructions, made a new reservation for the correct dates, returned to stay at the hotel, and paid for that booking too. At first, the reception staff apologized and clearly said the refund would be approved. Later they changed their position, said they couldn’t help, and shifted responsibility to Agoda and their internal “team”. It’s frustrating to be given assurances in person and then have the hotel deny responsibility. We were also told about the pool closure only after completing the reservation. It wasn’t stated during booking, and despite the late notice there was no compensation or alternative offered. This was a very disappointing and unprofessional experience at The Rich Residence Sukhumvit Nana. I hope management reviews the situation and resolves it fairly.

The area is very dirty, and breakfast was appalling. Staff didn’t have the authority to handle complaints. I booked through Booking.com, but it was a third-party partner hotel, so Booking.com couldn’t manage my complaints. Agoda and the hotel management also haven’t resolved them. I’m still being passed between all three, with no results, and they charged my credit card anyway. Very poor service all round. There is nothing Rich about this hotel. Be careful when booking partner hotels on Booking.com, and steer clear of this one. 🤦♂️👎🏿😩
