Astra Sky River Chiang Mai By Fang

I spent almost two months at Astra Sky Chiang Mai, so I got a real sense of living here long term. It’s one of the better options in Chiang Mai for an extended stay. The place stays quiet and comfortable day and night, and there’s enough parking for cars and scooters, which is a big plus compared with other condos. The building is very clean and maintained well. Cleaning staff were around all day in the hallways, elevators, windows, and common areas. I didn’t have trouble with bad smells, noise, or other disturbances. It feels calm, organized, and professionally run. I’ve seen complaints about strict security guards. They do enforce the rules, but I think that’s part of why Astra Sky stays clean, quiet, and pleasant. As long as you follow the rules, there’s no problem. I personally had no issues with security during my whole two months. The pool is also clean and well looked after. For long stays, keep in mind it closes for a full day on the 17th of each month for deep cleaning and maintenance. That’s a good sign of upkeep, but worth planning around. I’d definitely consider staying here again.

There are plenty of massage shops and restaurants nearby, and a 7/11 across the road. The location is close to a lot of areas, and the airport is 17 minutes away. The common areas and hallways are kept clean, so the building feels new. Upstairs on the 17th floor there’s a huge pool and a decent gym with a great view. The pool setup could be much better. There’s no shade at all, not even one umbrella, and too few loungers or comfortable chairs for a pool this size. People end up lying on towels on the grass. The water is meant to be 1.2 m deep, but it isn’t topped up, so it feels more like 1.1 m or less. This is more like an apartment rented by an individual owner, so there’s no concierge, daily cleaning, shower after checkout, or free luggage storage. There is paid storage by the entrance, 80 baht per bag for the whole day. At around 85 USD a night, I didn’t think it was the best value.

The apartment was spacious and clean, with a fully equipped kitchen and a comfortable balcony to relax on. It’s a luxury condo in Chiang Mai, close to the Night Bazaar, with a modern gym, sauna, stunning views, and an amazing rooftop infinity “Sky River” pool. The only downside for me was the occasional strong smell of weed drifting onto the balcony, which was bothersome. It’s common in tourist areas since legalization. I’d still highly recommend it for the facilities and value.

The rooftop pool is a must, and the sunsets from up there are great. There are plenty of nearby shops, cafes, and restaurants, and it’s easy to find your way around. The rooms are great too. It’s a bit outside the city centre, but still within walking distance.
