Phrasing Guesthouse

The shower and drain smelled bad. The staff tried to address it by putting a plastic bag filled with water over the drain; I temporarily dealt with it by pouring disinfectant over the floor and drain. Even with that issue, I’ve booked this hostel again for my next visit. It’s a big hostel on a small back street, close to the weekend night market, restaurants and mini marts. I had no trouble checking in after 10 p.m., though reception closes at 6 p.m. and staff are still around to help later. My budget room had a double bed, private toilet and shower, a chair, flat TV, shelves that worked as storage and a table, and a refrigerator. The large window looked onto the neighboring concrete wall, but brought in a little light and ventilation. There’s a kitchen where breakfast is served, and common Thai dishes are available at competitive prices. The friendly staff will help however they can, and their English is OK. Washing machines are available cheaply. It’s decent accommodation for a good price, and I’d give it five stars for the service at that rate.

For six months while touring northern Thailand, I stayed here and got to know Mrs. Pen and the team at Phrasing Guesthouse. They’re caring, kind and always ready to help, checking in about your stay and doing what they can to make things comfortable. I wouldn’t stay at any other guesthouse in Chiang Mai. The people and the place are hands down the best.

Small but clean rooms, and a super sweet owner. The price and location are hard to beat. It’s ideal if you’ll be out all day and just need somewhere to leave your bags and sleep.

Phrasingh guest house is quiet and well located. The owner is cool and very smiley, and all the staff are pleasant. The rooms are good, and you can do laundry whenever you like. They also have a nice menu made fresh to order. No one here comes into your room pretending to clean when the cleaning never happens. At Mae Ping Home, they stole 3000 baths, threw away two of my things, and the owner acted like a really disturbed person. That didn't happen here. I recommend this place.
