Little Austria Tams Guesthouse

I was comfortable with the clean room, but the staff weren't very welcoming and struggled to communicate in English. After checkout I noticed I'd left part of my bikini behind. My calls and emails got no response, so I went back the following day. The receptionist was quite rude and said nothing had been found. That was disappointing, especially after just one day, and I'm sure I'd left it in the room.

Parking is available, though it's some distance from reception. We weren't allowed a second room card, and there was no hot water for two days.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and could arrange a motorbike rental. Our room was cleaned each day, and the beds were very wide and firm without being as hard as beds at other Thai hotels I've stayed in. I still would have liked a memory topper, since I sleep on my front or side and prefer a softer bed. We paid 900 baht a night. Samui City Hotel is modern and clean, in a good spot on the main road, with a nice pool. The small gym could use some mats on the floor. They charge for stains on towels or bedding. My son had a nosebleed and grabbed a nearby towel, but there's a laundry shop very close by that cleans for less than the hotel charges. The TVs were the main problem for us. They're not smart TVs, some channels showed “No Signal,” and the reception wasn't very good. There was one French speaking channel, no English, and the rest were Thai. During a 3 week stay that got frustrating at times, especially with no apps like Netflix or way to connect our phones or other devices. This was our first stay at Samui City Hotel, and we'd come back next time.

I was there for 19 nights while training nearby. The location and hotel were good, and it had a small gym and swimming pool. I did run into low hot water pressure and some problems with room cleaning. The cleaning staff didn't follow simple instructions from either me or reception, which was a bit frustrating.
