P72 Hotel Walking Street Pattaya

I hadn't been on Walking Street in years, so I decided to have a staycation and see what it was like now. I usually book through booking.com, but then remembered The Walking Street guest house. It's right on Walking Street, roughly midway along it. It's a small operation, but if you're there to party, you can't get closer to the action. I checked their website to get a sense of what the place is and isn't, and what to expect. The front-facing rooms have balconies overlooking the mayhem on Walking Street, which was a big draw for me. I arrived a couple of hours before the usual 3:00 p.m. check-in and planned to leave my bag and come back later. The smiling staff member took my passport and did the paperwork, then surprised me by handing it back along with my room key. I know early access can't always be guaranteed, but I appreciated it. My first-floor room faced Walking Street. You can ask for a room at the back if you want more quiet. It had a refrigerator, daily water, a large bathroom with good pressure and hot water, and soap and shampoo containers. The AC worked really well. Wi-Fi was fast enough that my Fire Stick didn't buffer all weekend, a huge plus. There was also a wall fan so I wouldn't have to rely on the AC if I got cold. The 32-inch Smart TV seemed about right for the room, with some satellite channels if you don't bring a Fire Stick or Android streaming device. It also had a safe, kettle, small desk and chair for laptop work, and power points by the bed. There's no elevator, which could be a downside for some, though it didn't affect me. It was exactly what I wanted, a comfortable, clean bed with nice linens and pillows right in the middle of the action. The website says front-facing rooms like mine get noise because they're right on Walking Street. I can sleep through a world war, so it wasn't an issue for me. At 640 baht a night, the price for that location was incredible, and I'm glad I booked it. I'll definitely return. The one thing I wasn't keen on was having to leave my key at reception whenever I went out. I'm not used to doing that, but it wasn't a big deal and wouldn't stop me coming back. If you want nightlife on your doorstep, can handle some nighttime party noise, and want value for money, you simply can't beat The Walking Street guest house. I'm just a guest with no connection to the hotel. It offered such good value that I think other people should know.
