Khao Sok Silver Cliff Resort

Milo greeted me when I arrived and was attentive, explaining things in detail. Everyone on staff was very friendly and spoke good English. I stayed five days in a wooden hut with a clear stream right in front, and being surrounded by nature made it really relaxing. Somehow I didn't get a single mosquito bite. It's about 2.7 km from town, tucked away from the main road. I was cycling, so that distance was fine for me. The resort food was excellent and reasonably priced for a resort meal. There's also a small local eatery near the main road, but it closes at 8 pm. I slept some of my best nights here. If you need aircon and hot showers, this probably isn't the place for you.

We booked late on a whim and were surprised by how nice the place was. The bungalows had clearly been built recently and well, and the rooms felt new and well made. The bed was very comfortable, the views were wonderful, and the gardens and landscape were lovely. Staff were helpful, and you can buy breakfast, dinner and drinks at the restaurant area. There's even a gym with weights made of wood. We had to deal with ants starting to come in, and the shower only had cold water, but for a jungle location that was fine. Budget places in Thailand can be rough around the edges, but this really wasn't.

The hiking trips were a highlight for me. My guide Dam was informative and good at spotting wildlife, large and small. The full lake trip, including the cave and waterfall, is a must too. I was traveling solo and stayed three nights and four days on the Tarzan Tour package. My new octagon bungalow had a river view and was lovely: spacious, with a nice bathroom, a good-sized bed, several power outlets, fans, a beautiful deck by the river, and free drinking water with no limit in the room. The resort restaurant was delicious and had plenty of choices for all kinds of eaters. I'd be happy to visit again.

The resort was beautiful and the staff lovely. I really enjoyed my stay. After traveling around Thailand and sleeping on nothing but hard beds, that super-soft bed was just what I needed. Looking forward to coming back!
