Sunwing Kamala Beach

We ate lunch at Som’s Kitchen every day, and were pleasantly surprised by the good quality Thai food and fair prices. A bigger wine list would be nice. Breakfast was solid too, though I would have liked more exotic fruit. The night market and beach are both nearby, but reaching Kamala center felt less straightforward than we expected, even though it looks close on the map. The staff were mostly cheerful and friendly, though the language barrier sometimes made communication difficult. The pool area was large and had lots for kids to do. Our room was clean, spacious, and well maintained. Service was proactive, the AC and lighting were fixed before we noticed a problem, and check-in and checkout were quick. They also welcomed us with coconut water. We had a very good stay and would likely return, especially for a family trip.

We spent 10 nights here and really liked it. The room was a good size, housekeeping did a very good job, and the staff were both helpful and friendly. Breakfast was tasty, with plenty to choose from. There are eight pools, and we could always find sunbeds nearby. We saw lots of international guests, many from the EU. In general, a nice place for families.

The hotel itself was lovely, and the staff were friendly and helpful, which made the run of room problems all the more disappointing. On one night the AC tripped the electricity at about 230 in the morning. The following night it kept switching on and off, so we had to call staff again. Another time, the key card slot kept cutting the power, and the outside door handle was loose and needed pulling back to open the door. On the night before our last, the AC leaked water all over the floor. We had just returned from two weeks in Thailand, with the second week at Sunwing Kamala. These things can happen, but it was a letdown in an otherwise nice hotel.

We had a wonderful five nights in a beautiful beachfront villa and would highly recommend staying here. Ebelyn and the team deserve a special thank you for going above and beyond to make us comfortable. The beach and beach bars are right out front, and the location couldn't be better. The room was modern, spacious, and clean. Breakfast had everything we could ask for, and all eight pools were fantastic. We loved our stay and will definitely come back.
