The Melody Phuket Hotel (SHA Plus+)

The pool was in bad shape, and the next day the manager shouted at us and other guests there. It was uncomfortable and unprofessional. Staff communication was poor throughout, with a rude attitude, little listening, and no effort to understand us. The water from both the toilet and sink was dark and looked unhygienic on day two. On day three, the power went out for hours, with no proper explanation or apology. There was a bad smell in the lobby and elevators as soon as we arrived. When we asked to leave our luggage and return later to check in, staff seemed more concerned about pushing us to pay than helping. At check-in we were told there was an extra charge for one guest, which hadn't been clearly explained beforehand. We politely asked to leave our bags, exchange money, then come back to pay. They refused to give us the room keys until we'd paid, with no flexibility or understanding. Management will probably come up with excuses after this review, but trust me, avoid this place. The service and management were very poor. I'd recommend paying a bit more to stay somewhere better.

The rooms are lovely for relaxing when the AC works, and the location is convenient, close to pretty much everything. The housekeeping women were friendly and smiling, and asked each morning if I needed anything. I enjoyed parts of the stay, but left with mixed feelings. I've had better service than this for years. I arrived in heavy rain. Check-in itself was smooth, but there was no warm welcome, smile, towel, umbrella, or even a little conversation. Maybe the woman was having a bad day, but that first impression could be fixed. The next day I had trouble trying to extend my stay. Miss "L. " was at check-in too, and couldn't communicate with me. Instead of explaining what was going on, she ignored me for over five minutes while texting with the booking agent at agoda to block all bookings. In general, it's a very good hotel, but it seemed focused on Russian guests. People hung around reception, drinking and arguing loudly early in the morning. Annoying, though I had no other issues with guests. Later I changed rooms and needed help at night. That was difficult too. The hotel seemed to employ staff from Myanmar who couldn't communicate except through a translator. The AC in the new room didn't work either, so I had to deal with 35 degrees C at night. I work in the hotel business too. Miss L. seems like a nice person, but I think she could use support and training in guest service and satisfaction.

This was our third long stay at The Melody Phuket, and it was wonderful again. The rooms are great and the bed is about as comfortable as you can imagine. They pay attention to the little details, and there's already a proper Christmas atmosphere. The location is perfect, two minutes from Kata Beach by motorbike, or you can take the hotel's shuttle. Plenty of good restaurants nearby too. Thanks for another great stay!
