Ban Aothong Hotel

The hotel terrace restaurant opens at 17:00 and serves great food, mostly Western. There’s no breakfast at the hotel, but the restaurant two doors down toward the railway station does a great breakfast. I stayed for six nights in March 2026. It’s a lovely, atmospheric hotel in a great location and very good value. Several staff spoke English, and everyone was polite and friendly. The furniture could use a fresh coat of varnish. I’d strongly recommend this place, probably the best value in Trang.

It’s clean, simply equipped, and nicely decorated, with friendly, helpful staff. Rooms cost 500 Baht without a window and 600 Baht with one. The location works well for walking around the block for food and essentials. It’s next to the train station, but not loud, since there aren’t many trains and none run early. There’s live music in the restaurant downstairs, so depending on the room, you might hear it. Ask for a room on the 3rd floor to avoid being right above the restaurant. There’s also a designated outdoor smoking area.

The rooms are spacious and clean, with a good bathroom. The hotel is very central, so it’s convenient to walk around. It’s right by the train station, possibly inside the station building, but Trang only has one train leaving per day, so it stays quiet. There’s also a wine restaurant on the ground floor. It looks quite nice, though I didn’t try it.

We spent one night in a room for two and had a great stay. The room and bathroom were clean and well equipped. The woman at reception was incredibly nice and helped us plan our trip when low season made it hard to find transport to our destination. The hotel is decorated with intricate old woodwork. There’s an altar with incense on the ground floor, and the combination of wood and incense makes the place smell amazing.
