The stairs felt unsafe, with a slippery surface, an inadequate handrail, and a sharp metal sign mounted in a dangerous spot nearby. In our room, rainwater came through the ceiling, the bathroom smelled strongly unpleasant, and the exterior areas were very dirty. The shower cabin door was broken, so using it was difficult and unsafe. Breakfast was a major disappointment, just a few basic things like olives and eggs. What bothered us most was how the staff handled our concerns. We got no sincere apology or real effort to address the problems, only a smiling “goodbye” as we left. We expected much better customer service.

The steep walk up to the hotel was a drawback, though it’s near the acropolis and has good views over the city. Service was indifferent, and staff were mostly unavailable. The bed felt like sleeping on ropes, and the shower was only warm, with very little water coming through. There was no kettle or hair-dryer. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The location near the Pergamon Acropolis gave us a stunning city view, and the staff were really friendly and attentive. We paid €31.00 per person per night, which felt like good value. You can buy drinks at the hotel and sit out on the terrace in the evening. Breakfast was plentiful and had good options for vegetarians. Our room was nice and clean, with air conditioning and a TV, and we were very satisfied with our two-night stay. There was some street noise and a gap in the room door, though they offered us another room. The double bed was two singles pushed together. Even with those small issues, we’d happily recommend the hotel.

The breakfast starts at 8.30, which is when they begin cooking, so be prepared for a wait. It was a generous, tasty spread, from scrambled eggs to local cheese and olives. I’d asked to leave by taxi at 9.00/05, and they said that was fine, but the taxi wasn’t called until 9.05. That made things stressful since I had somewhere to be. It’s a charming old Bergama house close to the Akropole, with a view across the rooftops. The accommodation is simple but works well, and the staff are smiley. The bed was a bit hard for me but fine. Offering a bottle of water would be nice. If you need anything specific, be ready for some stress.
