Poyraz Otel

We spent three days here and were very happy with our stay. It’s right in the city center, close to everything, and the rooms are neat and very clean. The staff are friendly, and the owner is understanding and looks after guests well. A great family hotel, I’d recommend it to anyone.

My daughter and I had a really nice stay. The place was clean, and the staff were friendly.

I called Poyraz Hotel, the nearest place, and was quoted 1500 TL. Another hotel, recently renovated, was 1000 TL. I asked if the cheaper one was worse and was told it was new, not worse, so I asked if it was clean and requested photos. They sent some, and I drove an hour to get there. At 2 AM the building looked awful, nobody was inside, and though they said someone was coming, everything seemed broken and dirty. I waited to see the room. When a man arrived, he offered two rooms, one with a double bed for 2000 TL and another for 1000 TL. I took the cheaper one. Only the sheets looked clean; every other surface was dusty and grimy, and the room smelled terrible. The air conditioning wasn’t working properly, there were insects on the floor, and there was no shower, so you had to wash at the sink. A Doberman was hunting by the door all night. Since the air conditioning was faulty, I had to keep the window closed. I’ve stayed in plenty of hotels for work and never seen anything this bad. It didn’t feel like a hotel, just a converted building. The person who greeted me was friendly, but I was too exhausted at midnight to leave. I regret staying; it wasn’t worth a penny, and I’d have been better off sleeping in my car. I’d pay 2 or 3 TL and go somewhere else.

I was quoted one price on the phone and a different one at reception. After paying in advance, I asked for a refund for the days I didn’t stay, but the amount they gave back was far lower, only half of what I’d paid for those days. There was also a huge insect in the room that I had to kill. The bathroom and toilet are crammed together, leaving a tiny space to shower. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all.
