The location is a 10 out of 10, close to major sights, restaurants, bars, ATMs, currency exchange, souvenir shops, food stalls, cafes, and a tram stop. I stayed nine days and, despite the drawbacks, was happy here. I'd come back because the good points outweigh the bad. I'd rate it 8/10. ADORA HOTEL is a good budget option, and the attached restaurant offers lunch and dinner, plus beer and wine. The staff are lovely, cheerful, and helpful. A few have limited English, but most speak it perfectly. I'd call the hotel itself more like two stars, with the restaurant bringing it up to three. My room was quite good, with a window facing the food and walking lane, and the soundproofing was good. The rooms are showing their age, though. The lighting was okay, but a bedside lamp would've been useful. The toilet and sink porcelain were damaged, and the walls and shower stall needed a good scrub. Water pressure varied depending on how many guests were showering at once, though the hot water lasted a good while. The bathroom still worked as it should. I can overlook this, but others might not. Breakfast was included, simple, and enough to get you through the morning, but it was limited and the same every day. There was fruit and veg, boiled eggs, fries, processed meat sausages, and tea and coffee.

The service was excellent, especially from Mohammed and Nargis, who were truly wonderful. The hotel itself is lovely and exceptionally clean.

We chose this hotel partly because breakfast was presented as a strong point. It was actually one of the disappointments. The bread came in a plastic bag and was stale every morning, the machine coffee tasted like something from a long-distance bus, and the orange juice was awful. The food seemed basic, poor quality, and not fresh. The room was acceptable for what we paid, apart from the condition of the bed linens and mattress. The sheets had lots of unpleasant stains, as other reviews had mentioned. After our room was cleaned, they left the same dirty sheets on the bed, which we recognized by those stains. On the first night, we noticed a small insect on the mattress and thought little of it. I ended up with bites on my feet, legs, and hands, possibly fleas or a similar pest. Room cleaning itself was adequate, and we can't say much else about the room or bathroom beyond that the condition was acceptable for the price. The power went out during our first two nights, when the city was extremely hot. We understand this was a broader electricity problem and not the hotel's fault. Still, they didn't offer an emergency light, flashlight, water, or anything at all. We weren't expecting compensation, but even a small considerate gesture would've made a difference. We were told only that the power would come back eventually. After walking around in the sun all day, we had to shower in complete darkness at night. We couldn't charge our phones or contact family and business back home, and there was no Wi-Fi. Other hotels in the area had generators, which makes sense if outages like this are common. The hotel should have real alternatives for this kind of situation. What upset us most may have been the way a staff member treated us on our last morning. Edi and Mohamed had been very friendly throughout our stay, but this was someone we hadn't seen before. While we waited for a taxi, as we were about to leave, he asked us to write a review and pleaded with us not to give him "2 points." He said he'd seen our comment and that we'd deleted it. We'd posted a negative review about the outage on our first night, then removed it out of empathy. We felt harassed, uncomfortable, and somewhat threatened when he said cynically that he'd seen what we posted and that we shouldn't do it again. Is that really how guests who have paid to stay should be treated? Is this how they respond whenever someone has a complaint or request? We loved Istanbul, but everything at the Adora Hotel seriously affected our trip. These issues help explain why it has so many negative reviews on Booking.com and other platforms. We won't recommend it, and hope they come to understand how guests should be treated.

We paid 400€ for four nights, but I think this place was worth maybe 100€. The same breakfast was served each morning, and the building looked like it hadn't been maintained in ages. Our room was dirty, with stained walls and torn sheets, and the water stopped running while I was using it. Some men who work at the hotel and mostly eat there asked us one night why we weren't having dinner at the hotel. Maybe because the food is disgusting. With the money they take in, they could at least replace all the sheets. I strongly recommend spending your money elsewhere. You can find better options for the same price.

Edip, the manager, was very friendly, and the bellboy Ahmet became a great friend. The room was comfortable, and so were the breakfast and location.
