The listing gave a misleading impression, and the service was very unprofessional. I paid extra for a “city view” room but was put in a dark basement room facing a dirty wall and garbage. There was no sunlight and a strong chemical smell. When I raised it, the owner was rude, said I was “not paying $100,” and told me I could leave if I didn't like it. They also said there was no real difference between the room types. The noise was terrible, I could hear everything. At night the receptionist watched reels at full volume. It felt like I was watching them with him in the same room. Avoid.

The main drawback is the long stairs, since there's no elevator. It wasn't a major problem for us, but it's worth knowing if you have heavy bags or mobility concerns. Otherwise, we really enjoyed Galapera Hotel. The location made exploring easy, just a short walk from Galata Tower, Istiklal Street, and the metro. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, and the welcoming staff were always willing to help. A lovely boutique hotel with spotless rooms and great service. We'd definitely recommend it.

Anastasia at reception was very friendly. The other two Turkish guys were unhelpful to visitors and lied to me every time. I won't be coming back.

The bed and pillows made it hard to get a proper night's rest. I wasn't expecting much, but did hope to sleep decently, and that didn't happen. The room and bathroom were clean, and having a kettle for tea was handy. The location is excellent for nearby attractions and public transportation, and the price is reasonable if you just need somewhere basic. A fair choice for location and cost, but not if comfortable sleep matters to you.
