Galata Istanbul Hotel

I had a single room with its own bathroom, and it was just right for what I needed. On arrival they offered me tea and were patient while I checked in. The hotel is very well placed by bus stops and a metro station, with plenty of food options nearby. The top-floor balcony was a great spot to sit and take in the wide views over the city and water. One tip, use the metro tunnel to avoid crossing the main road. I’d stay here again.

I booked seven days and paid ahead, but after four nights I moved to another hotel because I couldn’t stand staying here any longer. The booking site photos were completely misleading, and I found the location very poor. In the room, the bathroom smelled of sewage, there was no toilet paper, housekeeping wasn’t done regularly, and the sheets and covers were extremely old and partly torn. Water even leaked from the ceiling onto us. I’ve been to Istanbul more than five times and stayed in over 500 hotels in my life, and this was easily the worst experience. Even one star is far too generous. This place deserves minus points.

The location was close to the main attractions yet still felt peaceful and quiet. My room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with all the amenities I needed. The staff were professional, very friendly, and ready to help whenever I needed something. I had a great stay and would gladly choose this hotel again on my next visit.

I had a good stay at Galata Istanbul Hotel. The receptionist was helpful and confident, and spoke English well. On checkout day, the hotel let us leave our bags there while we walked around and waited for our airport pickup. The hotel staff arranged that taxi service, which cost 35 Euro. My sea-view room was compact, especially for two adults, but comfortable. The bed was clean and pleasant, there was hot water, and the toilet had a bidet. A table and chair made it nice to sit in the room and enjoy the view. We also had a kettle for boiling the complimentary 1.5L water. Smoking isn’t allowed in the room, but there’s a kind of balcony area on the fourth floor with chairs, tables, and ashtrays where guests can smoke or vape. The hotel is well placed for getting around on foot. There’s a metro tunnel right beside it, either to cross to the other side of the road or go straight to the train platforms, plus lots of bus stops and Galata Tower nearby. It’s a decent, comfortable hotel in a handy spot. Thank you very much.
