Meserret Palace Hotel

The restaurant service really brought down our impression of the hotel. Breakfast was very poor, and the older man acting as host was consistently rude and uncouth, always seeming to be in a bad mood. That’s a shame, because the hotel is in an excellent location and the reception staff were extremely kind and welcoming.

The service wasn't good during our six nights. Our room was cleaned just once, and after a double booking we had to switch rooms. The King room was nicer than the sea view suite, even though it cost less. Breakfast was okay. They advertise room service, but it only covers drinks, and they ran out of ice. The fridge is just a wine cooler.

The rooftop patio was a great bonus, and the hotel is central, so it’s easy to walk to all the major tourist spots. We had a great stay and liked the rooms.

The location is okay if you want a busy street, with lots of restaurants nearby and the main attractions close. But it’s noisy: we were on the first floor and could hear everything outside and inside the hotel. The first night was miserable. We couldn’t sleep because the room was so hot. The hotel advertised air conditioning, but it only blew hot air. When we asked at reception, they rudely told us, “just open a window, we don’t have ac”. After we complained again in the morning and through Booking, where we had booked, they somehow managed to turn the AC on. The hotel also wasn’t very clean, and there was a horrible poop smell when you entered. On the first night I noticed the faucet leaking. I told reception the next day, but it only got worse. Every time you washed your hands, the same amount of water came through the bottom drawer onto the floor.
