Nayla Palace Hotel

The location in central Sultanamet is very good, close to tourist sights and plenty of restaurants. Rooms are small, but have what you need, and the shower is powerful and warm. Breakfast runs from 0800-1000. Nothing special, but there's enough choice, and the omelette and boiled eggs were good. The outside noise is understandable in busy Istanbul, but the thin walls are another matter. I could hear people talking and using plugs and switches in the next room. Ear plugs are a must here. The other issue was the air con panel. It wasn't locked on the first day, but the staff locked it on day two, so we couldn't cool the room. I asked them to unlock it the next day and they did nothing, so I had to sleep with the windows open.

The reception staff were very friendly, and the cook tried hard to make up for a pretty poor breakfast. The price is reasonable given how much prices have risen across Turkey this past year, but that doesn't excuse the hygiene. On the first night, they pulled the duvet over without even arranging the pillows properly. Toothpaste was still in the sink, the sheets were never changed, and the towels had holes. I spilled the coffee powder they provide on the floor, and it was never cleaned up. The cleaning staff get zero from me.

A quiet little hotel, just 2 minutes from Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. The beds were comfortable, and the breakfast was amazing.

We just checked out after 3 nights. The hotel was really comfortable, with a beautiful view, and the staff were so nice and welcoming. Breakfast was healthy and clean. Everything is within walking distance, and it was fun wandering around at night. We'll definitely come back next time.
