Nobel Hotel

Daylight robbery. Two incidents are the reason for my very bad experience here. On one morning, the receptionist wouldn’t give the two of us separate room cards. I left my debit card in the power slot so my phone could charge while I went down to the hotel restaurant for breakfast. When I came back, he shouted that I’d damaged the room’s electricity by using my card there and demanded 2,000 lira for an electrician to “fix” it. I refused because I thought it was a scam. We had no power for about an hour. I was close to calling the Tourism Police (112), but my roommate agreed to pay 1,200 lira after the receptionist reduced the demand. Then the cleaning lady, who had also served our breakfast, came to the room and replaced the door lock battery right in front of me. The power came back immediately. It looked like the receptionist had swapped in a dead battery while we were out, creating a fake fault to charge us for a repair. On our last night, my room card stopped working. A different receptionist said we were meant to have checked out at 12:30 PM that day. I showed him that our Agoda booking was prepaid and clearly ran through the next day. After a lot of back and forth, he accepted that and reactivated the card. The Iranian staff member was polite and professional. The Turkish receptionist, though, was loud, rude, dishonest, and completely unprofessional.
