The Laila Hotel

The employees were cordial, which was the one thing I can praise. We’d booked what turned out to be a basement room, and the booking photos looked nothing like the actual room. We stayed anyway because after a long trip we just needed sleep. The space seemed unfinished and was so cramped that two people could barely fit; if one wanted to pass, the other had to get into bed. The wardrobe door hit the bed and couldn’t open properly, and the shower was broken, so bathing was a struggle. Cleaning throughout the building was very poor.

I’d happily recommend this hotel. I’ve sent several friends to stay there, and every one of them was very satisfied with the service, hospitality, and overall experience. Thanks to the hotel team. I’ll keep recommending the place to others!

The room was nothing like the pictures. The sheets were stained and looked unclean, the toilet smelled of sewage, and the damp and mold odor hit me as soon as I walked in. It was almost impossible to breathe. We’d booked a room with a view, but got a basement room overlooking toilet bowls. There was no heating, and probably no hot water either. The hotel was filthy, and the customer service was appalling. Nobody even showed us to the room. I went straight back to reception to report the problems. They offered no fix and sent us back, saying there were no other rooms. We had to leave and spend the whole day finding somewhere else to stay. The staff showed no empathy when we tried to get our money back. We had traveled 700 km with family and friends, including children, only to be misled by the photos and listing. The address didn’t match the one in the booking, and it wasn’t near the Grand Bazaar as claimed. Even the locals didn’t seem to know the hotel. Seeing those conditions was a shock, and they were completely unacceptable for people who’d traveled so far. Choosing this hotel was my biggest mistake, and I won’t make it again.

I had one of the worst stays of my life. The hotel was extremely dirty and badly managed, and it didn’t look like the pictures at all. The front desk staff were indifferent and among the worst I’ve encountered. Rooms were poor quality, with dust everywhere and towels and bedding that looked dirty. The bathroom was badly damaged, the shower had no door so water spilled into the room, and we couldn’t properly lock the room door. It was also very hard to find. I wouldn’t recommend it.
