Yeni Hotel

It was around 1 a.m. when reception said I’d need to ask again in the morning about switching to a room with its own toilet. The bathrooms were shared outside with more than three rooms. I’d also been trying to shorten my stay after hauling large bags over from another hotel more than a kilometer away; an Uber couldn’t enter that hotel’s street. In the morning, when I tried to change the booking and room, the older man at reception came into my room, moved my things on the table, and sent me away without letting me explain. He was offensively rude, and even got angry when I asked to check the amount charged. Treating a woman traveling alone this way, without giving her a chance to communicate, showed no heart. To that man, you’re giving Muslim men a bad image. I hope my rizq widens, and Allah deals with you.

The staff were really helpful, and the rooms, though small, were clean and had enough space for tourists. It’s a great hotel in the middle of Istanbul, close to all kinds of transport. I hope I can stay there again.

There’s no elevator, though that wasn’t an issue for me. My room had a shared bathroom, and the hotel was surprisingly clean. Check-in and checkout went smoothly, and the owner in charge was friendly. It’s right in the city center, with easy access to Istanbul’s extensive public transport and plenty of restaurants nearby. A good experience, recommended.

There’s no lift, but the hotel staff are kind and well behaved. It’s very basic, maybe one star at most, with none of the usual services. Still, it’s fairly cheap given how close it is to historic sights, transport, and food. If you’re willing to give up some comfort for the price, it’s good value for budget travelers.
