The mosque next door is very loud and will wake you early in the morning. Apart from that, this is a large guesthouse with spacious, clean rooms and private bathrooms. I stayed three nights, and the dolmus gets you to Meydani city center in 10 minutes, so getting there isn’t difficult. Breakfast is simple but tasty, and the welcoming family who work there are helpful. The son speaks good English.

We’ve come back for a second stay, and the manager was just as charming and welcoming. We really liked talking with him again, and we’ll definitely choose this hotel whenever we’re in Trabzon. It’s basic and simple, but the rooms are clean and have what you need. Breakfast is basic too. It isn’t in the center, though there are lots of shops and restaurants nearby.

The staff are wonderful, though communicating in English is difficult. It’s around 1.3 km from downtown Trabzon Madan, about a 28-minute walk. Breakfast is humble but nice, and the price was around 44 USD, though it changes depending on the vacation. There’s no elevator, just stairs to the rooms, so it wouldn’t suit older people or anyone with a lot of luggage.

I was there in 2023, so I’m not sure whether it’s still among Trabzon’s affordable places in 2025, or whether the location counts as ideal or close to tourist spots. I picked it because it was affordable, included free breakfast, and was within walking distance of the bus station. I thought that would make it easy to leave if things didn’t go well. I hadn’t planned the trip properly, and mostly just went with whatever came up. The only place I managed to visit was Sumela Monastery. For anyone doing a DIY trip: since the hotel is near the bus station, I waited there for the small bus to MACCA and paid 20TL. Tell the driver you’re going to SUMELA. They’ll drop you at an office that arranges the trip to SUMELA. I think I paid 120TL at the time. The office is in the market area, and there’s only one office the locals use to arrange trips there.
