Chrysler Hotel

There are lots of shops just downstairs, and the MRT station is very close. The front desk staff were friendly and let me check in an hour early for free. The central AC was quite loud, and I couldn’t adjust the temperature. The bathroom has a shower but no separation between wet and dry areas. On the plus side, the water was hot and the pressure was strong.

I booked two nights for February 2024 but left after the first night and refused to stay for the second. I was so uncomfortable that I could only sleep for two hours, then spent the rest of the night awake looking for another hotel. The bed felt like a cardboard box with thin bedding over it, and sleeping on it hurt. I know Taiwanese people tend to prefer firmer beds, but this one was extremely hard. The other major problem was how cold and damp the room was. Taipei is very damp and cold in February, with rain nearly every day, and the room felt just as bad as outside. Breathing the air was like trying to breathe through a wet towel, and it irritated my lungs. The room stayed around 50 degrees F, or 18 degrees C, and the AC only blows cold air, with no warm air. At 10:30 the next morning I asked to check out early and get a refund for the second night. The staff apologized but said they couldn’t do that. I understand it may have been outside their control, but I’m still dissatisfied and will dispute that second night’s charge with my credit card company. I was extremely displeased and don’t recommend this hotel for winter travel to Taipei.

We stayed five days. The room was only cleaned once, and that was after we asked. Our towels weren’t changed, and the trash wasn’t taken out. The room wasn’t very clean to begin with. On the last days, the hotel changed its Wi-Fi network but couldn’t give us the new password, so we had no internet. There was construction noise every morning while they renovated some rooms, but nobody told us about it. Staff weren’t especially welcoming, though that may have been because they didn’t speak English. The room itself was nice enough, but cold in November and noisy, with a large window right above a busy street. The centralized AC was too strong, and we couldn’t adjust the temperature.

The price and location are the best things here. It’s near an MRT station, with a subway, 7-11, and MOS burger downstairs, and Shida night market is a short walk away. The place feels more like a love motel. The central AC was too cold and noisy, making a loud sound all night until morning, and I couldn’t adjust the temperature. The room smelled of insecticide spray, and the smell wouldn’t go away. Sound insulation was poor too.
