Play Design Hotel

I stayed in the Lab room and loved all the details they put into it. The hotel's curated interiors are intriguing, and you can even choose furniture and decor if you want. The check-in was fun too: the receptionist spent about 30 minutes walking me through the designers' notes for my room. If time allows, they may show you the other rooms, but there's no promise. Almost everything in the hotel is for sale unless marked otherwise. We had fun, and I'd recommend it to anyone wanting a funkier touch to their Taipei itinerary.

Friendly staff, with lots of suggestions for where to eat. This is more like an apartment than the kind of hotel you'd usually expect, though there's no cooking setup or in-house dining. The focus is on local experiences, and there are plenty of old shops and restaurants nearby, with the night market just around the corner. The room has locally designed goods for guests to use, and you can buy them if you like.

We brought our infant son, and the staff were really helpful and knowledgeable. Our room even had a washer and dryer, which was a huge plus for family travel. The rooms have a distinctive design and are furnished entirely with products made in Taiwan. The hotel sits on a quiet alley near the famous Ningxia night market and Dadaocheng, a historic urban revival area in Taipei with great design shops and local food. I highly recommend Play Design Hotel if you're visiting Taipei.

The service was out of this world, and the room design and presentation were brilliant. The hotel is right in the middle of a trendy neighborhood that's starting to take off, with the night market nearby and central Taipei station about a 20 minute walk away.
