Kipepeo Beach Village

It's a relaxing, quiet spot right on the beach, and the food is good, though service can be slow. Getting there from Dar is easy, whether you're going for a day or staying a couple of nights. Rooms range from very basic to a little more deluxe, with good value for money.

I came back on 11/05 after 20 years, even though I live in Dar. It's still a lovely place for families and kids to unwind by the beach. The food was OK, but the coffee was terrible. The respectful staff and the location make up for the service shortcomings.

The place is fantastic, and the staff are incredible. The food is super cheap and really tasty. The prawn curry is by far the best thing on the menu.

It's really upsetting how badly locals are treated here compared with western visitors. The service Tanzanians get feels far inferior, even though we're paying customers. We had to buy mandatory coupons, which could make sense for a fair deal for the business, but why limit the menu when the coupons are redeemable? After restricting us to just four main courses, staff said there was no pizza, fish or calamari, which were at least the options that made sense on the menu. We even had to carry tables and find seats ourselves while staff focused on western guests. When I've come with my European friend, the service was fast and excellent, so it feels like this unequal treatment of Tanzanians is deliberate. None of the staff apologized. I wouldn't recommend Kipepo to Tanzanians, and unless this changes, it could be a major downfall for the business.
