We were driving back from Portland (Dorset) on a long road trip and stopped for a birthday lunch. Glad we did. The staff were welcoming, the venue is lovely, and the food was excellent. They brought complimentary soup, a nice surprise to start with. We enjoyed our starters, and both mains were generous and delicious. Sticky toffee pudding was the obligatory finish. 😁

The menu had a lovely range of choices, and everything was locally sourced. We were in too much of a hurry to eat to take photos, but the food didn’t disappoint. Service was friendly and great, and arriving a little later than booked was no problem at all. We had a wonderful lunch for my partner’s birthday. It was refreshing that there was no added service charge and tipping was left to the customer. We were happy to leave one after such an enjoyable meal. We’ll definitely be back. Thanks, Langton Arms!

The roast potatoes were exactly right, crisp and golden outside, fluffy within, and the roast beef was tender, juicy and full of flavour, pink in the middle with a glossy, rich gravy. The beef bourguignon was slow-cooked comfort in a bowl, and dessert was excellent too. A proper Sunday roast, cooked with care and worth every bite.

The beef came from a very local farm, and the dessert was so moreish. We had a tasty lunch with lovely service and a good atmosphere while celebrating our anniversary on a wet January Sunday. It’s a remote spot, but well worth the trip out.

After a 5.8 mile country walk, lunch here was a lovely way to finish. The Ploughman's Lunch was delicious for all three of us, and we couldn’t fault the service. Thank you to the team at The Langton Arms. The inn is in the heart of a beautiful part of England, and makes a great base for some breathtaking walks. The location, service and food are all first class.
